The 22nd Igala Education Summit has been held with a call for the reinvigoration of the vision of Late Professor Francis Idachaba.
The Deputy Governor of Kogi State and a strong Pillar of the Foundation, Chief Edward David Onoja, CIK, made the call while addressing this year’s summit held at Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba on Friday, 30th December, 2022.
Chief Onoja who paid glowing tribute to the Initiator of the Foundation said the seed planted 22 years ago has grown very well and doing wonders in the educational development of Igala land stressing the need for more support to enable it achieve the desired results.
Earlier in an address of welcome, the Vice Chancellor of Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, Professor Marietu Tenuche, represented by Professor O.J. Saliu, DVC Administration, promised continued support to the Summit as it remains a unique legacy left behind by Late Professor Francis Idachaba.
Delivering a key note address at the event, the Chairperson of Igala Education Foundation, Mrs Achenyo Idachaba Obaro thanked all those who have showcased love for his Late Father’s pet project adding that posterity will find them out for recognition. He thanked members of Board of Trustees, the Management of the Foundation, the LOC, the Awardees and indeed, Chief Edward David Onoja and his Team for their selflessness leading to more fresh air for the Foundation.
Three papers were presented at this year’s summit with a Former Commissioner for Education in Kogi State, Dr Mrs Rosemary Ojochenemi Osikoya making the Lead Presentation through Dr Ikani of the School of Languages, Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa. Dr Moses Ejigbo and Dr Samuel Enefu also delivered thought provoking Lectures at the summit.
Presenting the Awardees to be honoured, the new Executive Director of the Summit, Engr. Abdul Audu said 20 graduates of Igala/ Bassa extraction made it this year and called for more support for the Foundation to enable it meet up it’s obligation to the Awardees. Engr. Abdul promised to carry stakeholders along to ensure the sustenance of the tempo of progress made so far.
In a vote of thanks, the new Chairman, LOC of the Summit, Professor E.S. Attah thanked God Almighty for the success of this year’s event and appealed for more concerted effort to move the Foundation forward. He also thanked critical stakeholders for their commitments.
The Summit was attended by the immediate past Executive Director, Professor Joseph Omada, the Deputy National Leader of Ukomu Igala Organization, Dr Rekiya Abaji, the DVC Academic of PAAU, Professor Dan Atidoga, Honourable Dr. and Mrs Emmanuel Egwu among others.
