The acting President of Riverine Peace Initiative in Niger Delta, comrade Toluwa Mulade has condemned the ultimatum call to federal government to revoke the #138.7billion annual pipeline to surveillance protection contract to Pipeline Infrastructure Limited owned by Olu of Warri.
The statement which was made available by the by Comrade Toluwa Mulade, the Akwa Ibom cordinator JOHN AKPAN OKON signed respectively in Warri, Delta State described the move as not acceptable by the Itshekiris in Delta State.
According to Comrade Toluwa Mulade, the ex- militants operating under the auspices of Unyekisong Akwa Ibom state should refrain from such utterances that is capable of causing crisis in the area, because sustaining peace in Niger Delta has not been easy, and would therefore not support any idea that would ignite unrest in the area.
He emphasized that revoking the contract awarded to the company of Olu of Warri is an afront insult to the constitutional provisions of the process to such contract. He said from investigation, the federal government did not compensate the King for anything, rather, his company bidded for the job like others and it was awarded to him.
Speaking further, he charged the protesting ex agitators to shield their swords and embrace the obvious fact and join hands to work with the King’s firm to ensure protection of pipeline surveillance in. Akwa Ibom state.
“Is time for the people of Niger Delta to form a united front and fight marginalization of the area rather than fighting themselves.” He said.
“They said the King is not from Akwa Ibom, are they aware how many Akwa Ibom people that are under the pay roll of Olu of Warri? They should stop this divisible and inciting statement and focus on how Niger Delta can be developed. We are calling on Akwa Ibom state cordinator, Cross River, Rivers, Bayelsa coordinators of Riverine Peace Initiative respectively to promote and sustain Peace in the areas. ” He said.
He however charged the Olu of Warri Atuwatse 111 and Chief Ekpemupolo aka Tompolo to ensure they carry everyone along to give them a sense of belonging in the contract awarded to them.
” I want to also emphasized more that the Peace Initiative Groups should also be carried along as they have worked tirelessly to promote and sustain Peace in Niger Delta. My organization, the Riverine Peace Initiative in Niger Delta is one of the vocal voice that have worked effortlessly to ensure peace is sustained in the area. I urged the Olu of Warri Atuwatse 111 and Chief Government Ekpemupolo akaTompolo to remember our organizations as well. ” He said
