GOVT. REITERATE COMMITMENT TO DEVELOPMENT OF CULTURE AND TOURISM IN THE STATE


 

Kogi state state government has reaffirmed its commitment towards the promotion of culture and tourism in the state.
The commissioner for culture and tourism Hon. Salifu Isah Idachaba stated this while receiving in audience a team of archeologists and ethnographers from the national commission for museum and moments recently in his office .
Hon. Idachaba commended the state government for its quick intervention and approval of the facilitation of movement of the team to site.
According to him, the site under study has put the state in the eyes of the world adding that the outcome would be beneficial to both the state and Nigeria in terms of tourism potential .
The Archeologists and Ethnographers who were in the state in respect of the discovered ancient grave at Ejuku in Yagba East local government area of Kogi state after visiting the site, discovered three more pots.
The Archeologist described the items recovered from the grave as that of a noble person or tittle person in the society
The pottery found in the grave the archaeologist said must had contained some valuable items adding moreover that the content of the pot could only be known when subjected to laboratory analysis .
He further said that the decoration on the pottery would be used to conduct comparative study with other pottery in Okun land .
However , the archeologist deduced that it is after this that further and proper excavation would be carried giving meaning to our scientific information .
The Elejuku of Ejuku , HRH oba Lamidi Folorunsho Ayeni commend the state government for her prompt intervention to uncover the ancient grave .
The oba, who was represented by the Asiwaju of Ejuku, chief J.O Olukotun, said the community welcome the position of the government, adding that the findings would go along way in placing the community on the tourism potential of the state if discovered to have tourism value.
