GBV: CCWGDF Organises gender analysis in Igalamela, Adavi, Kogi LGAs

The Project Coordinator, Chachavivi Women and Girl Child Development Foundation (CCWGDF),
Solomon Umar has described Gender Based Violence (GBV) as one of the most oppressive forms of gender inequality, possing a fundamental barrier to the equal participation of women and men in social economic and political spheres.

The Project Coordinator made the disclosure during a gender analysis carried out in Ofuloko Community; Igalamela LGA, Osaragada community; Adavi LGA and Koto-Karfe community in Kogi Local govt areas.

The Gender Analysis cut across the three Senatorial District of Kogi State where Chachavivi Women and Girl Child Development Foundation (CCWGDF), with funding from the Nigerian Women Trust Fund (NWTF) is implementing a project aimed at preventing and responding to GBV

The project he equally added is to strengthen and show support to systems towards enabling them respond and prevent GBV in Kogi, Adavi and Igalamela, would come to an end in February 2023.

According to the Project Coordinator, the analysis was aimed at identifying gender gaps, their responses and prevention mechanisms that would inform capacity development in areas that requires strengthening as well as sensitisation with the type of GBV identified across the different locations.

The Gender analyses he explained was done through a focal group discussion (FGD) and a key informant interview (KII).

Mr. Solomon notes that GBV impedes equality and the achievement of a range of development outcomes in the Society, hence the need for ultimate solution.
