The Concerned Edo Citizens Forum has
called on the federal government to urgently lockdown the country in the face of the coronavirus epidemic that is presently ravaging the country, in order to prevent further spread of the disease.
The group said since NCDC has warned that Hospitals won’t be able to handle serious Covid 19 cases soon, it is therefore necessary to go for partial or total lockdown so as to reduce the spread of the disease.
In a statement signed by Comrade Roy Oribhabor, Convener, and made available to journalists in Benin City, he advocate urgent action to prevent the life of the citizens.
Oribhabor hinted that, ” It has become necessary to call on President Buhari to evaluate the statement credited to NCDC where it stated that, Hospitals won’t be able to handle serious Covid 19 cases soon.
According to him, ” this statement is serious and as concerned citizens Nigeria Government should act fast to withstand this heartless and gory situation painted by NCDC because proactive measures are far better than reactions hence,
” we call on Nigeria Government to immediately consider the option of total or partial lockdown to help the people, The numbers of persons infected with cononavirus is disturbing, Most developed Nations are currently on lockdown despite their medical and health advancement to serves as panacea or mitigate the spreading disposition of the virus.
Adding that, ” It’s on record as a people,we lack the capacity to fight the virus why waiting for the worst before action? We are wondering why Nigeria Government had not come up with policy to handle the situation…… Life is only the thing, when life is gone everything is gone therefore, total or partial lockdown is very pertinent and necessary at this material time.
” Why pretending over difficult situation, Without formulating policy therefore, let us embrace the approach employed by more serious Nation.
” With the numbers of social parties and clubbing going on in Nigeria without limitation ….. Coronavirus is seriously on rampage hence, all hands must be on deck to check the deadly situation….
He added that, ” after critical evaluation of the NCDC position, we hereby come to humble conclusion for the sake of Nigerians for better Nigeria that lockdown is very critical and relevant today to enable us mitigate the spreading of covid 19. He concluded.
