AJAOKUTA EXECUTIVE CHAIRMAN ALIYU OGIDO HARUNA SETS SIGHTS ON TOTAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE COUNCIL

The Executive Chairman of Ajaokuta Local Government, Hon. Haruna Aliyu Ogido, has unveiled his vision for a transformative administration rooted in transparency, accountability, and fairness. Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected councillors at the Council Secretariat in Adogo, Hon. Ogido emphasized his commitment to leading with integrity and with the fear of God.
In his address, the Chairman called upon the people of Ajaokuta to lend their support for the comprehensive transformation of the council. He outlined cardinal programs aimed at rejuvenating key sectors of the local economy and implementing policies designed to enhance the social, economic, and political living standards of the citizens.
“Together, we can achieve the total transformation of Ajaokuta Local Government. I assure you that I will govern with humility and remain steadfast in maintaining your trust,” Hon. Ogido declared, urging the councillors to promptly initiate good legislation to alleviate the challenges faced by the residents.
The Chairman expressed his appreciation for the concerted efforts of Kogi State APC leaders, past Governor Alh. Yahaya Adoza Bello, and his successor, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo, for their relentless advocacy to elevate the socio-economic status of the people.
Acknowledging the pivotal role played by party leaders and stakeholders, Hon. Ogido commended the local APC Chairman, Mall. Yusuf Yakubu and the Apex leader of Ajaokuta, Hon Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem for their dedication and support during the electoral process.
As part of his appeal for collaborative governance, the Chairman invited constructive criticism and suggestions from stakeholders to enhance the new administration’s vision for Ajaokuta.
The swearing-in ceremony was officiated by Justice E.I. Joshua, who administered the Oath of Office, Allegiance, and Secrecy to the councillors. Hon. Abdullazeez Siyaka, the councillor representing Geregu Ward, echoed the Chairman’s call for teamwork, emphasizing the need for progressive legislation to improve Ajaokuta’s standing.
The event was graced by a wide array of attendees, including politicians, traditional leaders, civil servants, and supporters of the new administration.
In another development, the Ajaokuta local government legislative council elected its principal officers.
According to the council clerk, Mall. Okikiri Z. Omuya he announced that Hon. Jimoh Ayijimoh representing Odonu-Ohuege ward emerged as Council Leader, Hon. Ismaila Sadiku from Ebiya South emerged as the Deputy council leader, Hon Suleiman Idris of Ogigiri elected as majority leader while Hon. AbdulAzeez Isiaka from Geregu ward retained Deputy Majority leader as chief whip went to Hon. Salatu Lami Ibrahim representing Ajaokuta ward and Hon. Idris Rukayat of Badoko ward clinched Deputy chief whip.
