Media Practitioners have been urged to update their media skills with the current way the media is converging.
Speaking at a 3-day critical media practice workshop with the theme: ‘The Convergence Journalism at Dangote Cement plant, Obajana Lokoja-Kabba, Road, Kogi State, a resource person Baba Aminu who harp on the need for journalist to upgrade their skills for convergent media which is a revolutionary and evolutionary form of journalism that is emerging in many parts of the world as it transforms news, faster content stressed the need for professionals to extend their skills beyond their current state “Update your media skills to do your work effectively and meet global practices” he said.
He also stressed the need for Journalists to key into the three type of convergence journalism which include technological convergence such as digital form of technology, Economic convergence which allow company to use new media to advertise goods and services and cultural convergence as he attributed the disadvantage of convergence to hackers.
