There is no gainsaying that the service delivery story the Kogi State Internal Revenue Service is a mixed bag of fortunes that signpost the service since the creation of state in 1991.
Under previous administrations until the coming onboard of the immediate past government of Alhaji Yahaya Bello in 2016, the IGR performance of the defunct Board of Internal Revenue was hovering around 250 and 300 million naira averagely per month.
At was at this point that the transformation of the service began with the appointment of Alhaji Yakubu Oseni,whose impact was immediately felt as the service posted N1.3B revenue monthly.
Sequel to his preparation for his aspiration to the Senate in 2019,a new Executive Chairman of the service Alhaji Inda Aliyu was appointed to lead the organisation,.
Recall that the banker turned tax administrator was able to sustained the tempo and even improved on it.
However,he was removed from office for alleged financial infraction.
The man who took over from him Alhaji Yusuf had a short stay in office as he plunged the IGR performance to.a new low of 750 million .
Viewed against background therefore, the search for a competent, capable and experienced hand began in earnest.
At was at this point that the lot now fell on Alhaji Sule Salihu Enehe,a former director tax office and compliance of the organisation.
His appointment in November 2021 was a catalyst for change and transformation as the service now Post remarkable revenue generation in the neighbourhood of N1.5B averagely per month.
Little wonder therefore, that a total of N18N IGR was recorded in 2022 while a record breaking N23B revenue was generated for 2023.
The figures for the first and second quarters.of this year reportedly stood at over 12 billion naira.
On the whole,it is evidently clear that Alhaji Sule is a performer and result oriented tax administrator par excellence.
He is an astute administrator with a Midas touch.
He has been able to deploy technology and human resources to achieve a successful story.
