In a bid to re-awaken national consciousness as well as bring intellectualism into poetry, the “Made in Nigeria” performance show is set to take place in Lokoja., The Kogi State capital.
The show which is slated to hold in July 23rd 2022, is a fusion of different art forms into one performance, showcasing the Nigerian history and her common problems with the aim of joining forces to face “our common” enemy as a people.
The show is also tailored towards infusing drama and dance in a story form, mainstreaming poetry into pop culture, simplifying poetry, hence making it more attractive and enjoyable to the audience.
“This show is a fusion of different art forms into one performance. It is an artfully woven collection of 20 poems capturing 103 years of Nigerian history in 120 minutes. It brings to life, the history of Nigeria from the Amalgamation to the current day using poetry, dance and drama.
“Made in Nigeria’ is a performance poetry show first staged on September 30, 2016 in Abuja. It has so far been staged over 30 other times before the next show slated for Lokoja, Kogi state.
It has been performed successfully in several other Nigerian cities including Lagos, Ile-Ife, Benin, Enugu, Jos, Yola, Maiduguri, Umuahia, Minna, Kano, Kaduna, Port Harcourt, Gombe, Owerri, Jalingo and Bonny.
The poems basically challenge the audience to realize the presence of the common story of being Nigerian which plays out almost uniformly in the lives of the average citizen, fueled entirely on the existence of the same set of factors: Corruption and primordial sentiment and which needs to be resisted by all”.
Those expected at the events are:

Government functionaries, Celebrities, Expatriates, Young professionals,
Art lovers of all ages, etc.
The program is organized by Dike , the founder and CEO of Simply Poetry Ltd. He is the winner of the Abuja Literary Society Poetry Slam 2011 and the National Poetry Slam 2012. He is also the 2013 Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) Prose Fiction Prize winner.
The event will take place at Reverton Hotels, 1-5 Kunama Crescent, behind Kogi Hotel, beside Kogi INEC, Lokoja on July 23,2022. Time is 4pm
