Kogi State Deputy Governor, His Excellency, Chief (Dr.) Edward Onoja has charged the Muslim Ummah in the State and nation at large to imbibe the spirit of love, unity and togetherness which he said, forms the core sunnah of the Holy Prophet Muhammed (SAW).
The Deputy Governor made the call in a Statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Promise Emmanuel, in Lokoja.
Chief Onoja who appealed for peaceful co-existence amongst people of different ethnic tribes, irrespective of their faith and religion, insisted that development could only thrive in a peaceful environment.
He counselled the Muslim Ummah in the State on the need to leverage the sacred period by engaging in seamless acts of charity, love, prayer, piety, self-reflection, sacrifice, devotion and renewed strength while imploring them intensify their generosities in giving alms to the needy, orphans and the handicapped in the Holy Month and beyond.
Chief Onoja urged the Muslim Community to continue to pray for the Executive Governor of the State, His Excellency, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, the New Direction Team, the Legislator and Judiciary for sound health, long life and wisdom to continue to pilot the affairs of the State and the nation at large.
‘Ultimately, as the crescent moon is sighted and the Holy Month of Ramadan begins, I admonish those with more to share with those without, especially by humane efforts of zakat and sadaqah (alms-giving). I also pray that may Allah bless your home, family and work with his unblemished love, unity, happiness and peace.
