Ramadan: Kogi Governor’s Aide, Hon Abdulrahman Gentle Empowers 300 Women, Youths In Lokoja Local Govt With Over N3m
The Senior Special Assistant, SSA, to Kogi State Governor on Women and Youths Mobilization, Hon Abdurahman Hussain Gentle, on Thursday gave over 3 million naira worth of Ramadan Packages and cash grant to 300 less privileged women, men youth and the vulnerable people in Lokoja local government area.
Speaking during the distribution of the food items and cash in Kabawa, Lokoja, Abdulrahman Gentle explained that the initiative was meant to alleviate the sufferings of the people in the area based on the current harsh economic realities.
He said: “the Gentle, Ododo Ramadan Kareem Empowered has distributed food items and the sum of N10,000 each as Ramadan gift to 300 women and youths.
“Members of other political parties are here, so it’s not an APC affair, and I can also tell you that some Christians are here too because they’re also fasting. So the beneficiaries cut across political parties and religion affiliation” he said.
Gentle said he was using the Ramadan period to interface with his people to know their needs and discuss the best way to attend to them.
He further said that the gesture was inline with the renewed hope agenda of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo administration of taking care of the less privileged and the vulnerable in the society.
“This is an effort to ameliorate the prevailing economic crisis among families and to share love, concern and care between Muslims during this auspicious and blessed month.”
Gentle also noted that arrangements have been put in place to train more women and youth in skills acquisition to make them self reliant.
In his remarks, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Women and Youths Mobilization, Comrade Charity Ejechi
expressed joy with the distribution of the items and Cash to the less privileged in the area.
She urged other wealthy individuals to emulate same in giving back to the society to reduce the hardship being experienced by the common man.
In his keynote address, the Chairman of the All Progressive’s Congress, APC, in Lokoja Local Government Area, Alhaji Maikudi Bature commended the organiser of the empowerment scheme, saying the total amount spent is more than the salary he earned. He therefore called on the people of Lokoja to appreciate Hon. Gentle for his Ramadan gift and empowerment.
The APC Chairman however thanked the governor for all his positive achievements so far, assuring him of the continuous support to his administration.
Recall that this was the third empowerment programme that Hon. Gentle will be organising within six years.
