The reformation of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kogi Local Government is has begun as the Sodangi of Lakwaja and Member House of Representatives, Lokoja/Kogi Federal Constituency, Hon. Barr. Shaba Ibrahim yesterday Friday June 10, 2022 welcomed more than 1000 decampees to the party.
The event which took place in Koton Karfe, Kogi Local Government headquarters witnessed hosts of dignitaries amongst which are; Hon. TJ Yusuf, PDP flagbearer for Kogi West Senatorial seat, Hon. Sam Abenemi Ranti, Kogi State PDP deputy Chairman, Hon. Muhammad Umar Angulu, former Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly, Hon. Shaban Ohinoyi Shuaibu, former Executive Chairman, Kogi Local Government, past and present leaders of the PDP etc.
Barr. Shaba in his speech said; let it be known that nobody needs to be convinced on the number of people who decamped, and those who are willing to follow suit subsequently. Everyone will see the effect during elections, and In sha Allah, PDP will return to where it belongs by clinching victories from the Presidency down to the Councillorship levels come 2023.
Below is the lowdown of the numbers of decampees across the 11 wards of Kogi Local Government:
1. Odaki – 50
2. Ukwo – 63
3. Akpasu – 68
4. Chikara North – 40
5. Chikara South – 222
6. Irenodu – 67
7. Gegu North – 74
8. Gegu South – 244
9. Tawari – 119
10. KKF South-East – 185
11. Girinya – 366
Meanwhile, most of the representatives of the decampees across the 11 wards listed above agreed that what attracted them to the prospect of joining the PDP in the first place was due to Barr. Shaba’s likable character, influence, inclusiveness and the level of transformation he has brought and the many more he’s capable of bringing to the Constituency as a result of his experience and quality representation.
Adding that they want to be a big part of his reformative ambitions, and also help him record sweeping victories at all fronts in the forthcoming general elections, as the days of APC as the ruling party are numbered.
