Country President and International Director of United Nations Positive Livelihood Award Centre (UN-POLAC), Ambassador Funmilayo Adesanya-Davies, has called on the United Nations (UN), governments and organizations in the world to join UN-POLAC in demanding an end to the Palestine-Israel war.

She also pleaded the leaders of Palestine and Israel to find a peaceful resolution and lasting solution to the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Middle East.

In a statement on Friday, Prof Adesanya-Davies decried that the prolonged reprisal attacks have caused immense suffering, displacement, and economic hardship for the people of both nations.

She stated that the conflict has resulted in a severe humanitarian crisis, with thousands of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.

Adesanya-Davies said: “As such as a matter of urgency, the international community must come together to demand an immediate ceasefire and negotiate a lasting peace agreement.”

The UN-POLAC boss noted that the Israeli-Palestinian conflict has broader implications for regional dynamics and alliances. She added that it is crucial that the root causes of the conflict be addressed and efforts by relevant authorities and stakeholders geared towards a vibrant two-state solution possibly.

Adesanya-Davies said: “The war has also had devastating economic consequences, exacerbating poverty and debt in the regions. We must prioritize economic cooperation and development to support the people affected by the conflict on both sides.

“As a representative of the United Nations POLAC demanding and soliciting for world peace, I call on UN, governments and organizations to join us in demanding an end to the Palestine-Israel war. So that together, we can create a more peaceful and prosperous future for all.”

“The press statement is towards the end that, ‘there was a barrage of missiles exploding over Israel after Iran launched almost 200 missiles towards the country on 1 October, 2024. The Israeli military said most of the missiles were intercepted, but that a small number struck central and southern Israel.”

She added: “The country’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Iran had made a ‘big mistake’ and ‘will pay for it.’ Someone was killed by falling missile debris in the city of Jericho in the occupied West Bank, Palestinian officials said.

“Iran said the attack was in response to two assassinations by Israel – of the Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut and of the Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran. The largely thwarted attack was seen by many as an attempt to restore the Islamic Republic’s capacity to deter further Israeli attacks on its allies. But with Israel’s armed forces moving into southern Lebanon and the US government unflinching in its support of Benjamin Netanyahu’s administration, the warning seems to be falling on deaf ears.”
