One Year in Office of Dr Mohammed Kebiru Usman as Provost, Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa… eventful and rewarding.


 

 

The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello has been commended for his deep passion for education.
The Provost, College of Education, Ankpa, Dr. Mohammed Kebiru Usman stated this while briefing the press the on his achievements during the first year in office.
Dr. Kebiru stressed that general loss of interest by the staff, the non-challant attitudes of students as well as infrastructural decay were what he inherited. Accordingly, the college main gate, lecture Halls, library,staff offices, teaching aids and the environment, generally, received attention.
He added that, to enhance contents and modes of delivery, he introduced a Computer Based Center (CBT) for quick release of results and restructured the college semester, to enhance teaching and learning.
The Provost said he has deepened the Research culture of the college and encouraged collaboration with external sources by setting up a Directorate for Research and Innovation, saying that the college was among the top three in North Central Nigeria in Research and Development, with over 20 academic staff having accessed the Individual Based Research (IBR) worth 1.5m naira each. ” A team of academic staff won the National Research Fund, worth 35m naira, to build a National Archive to on Covid 19,” he said.
Dr. Mohammed Kebiru noted that Government could not do everything, hence, he had to set up a Directorate for Alumni and Private Sector Investment through which donations in cash and kind, has raised the standard of the institution.
On staff welfare, the Provost of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, said training and re-training for academic and non- academic staff has received a boost, adding that electricity and water supply have been face-lifted at the Staff Quarters, during this eventful year in office.
It’s worthy of note that the National Board for Colleges of Education (NBCE) will be in College for another round of accreditation, after the last one in 2012…. Continue reading
