… Wants Gov. Bello to audit institution’s finances
A group of stakeholders from Okehi LGA of Kogi State, have described
as unfortunate public comments credited to Mrs Hannah Oziohu Abraham, Provost College of Nursing, Obangede during budget defence at the Kogi State House of Assembly.
The group in a statement signed by Balogun Omeiza Ahmed, described the comments made at the Assembly as capable of undermining the developmental efforts of Gov. Yahaya Adoza Bello in the college.
The group maintained that it will be recalled that the college was a glorified secondary school before the coming of Alh Yahaya Adoza Bello, but commended the Governor’s transformation efforts that has made and transformed the institution to a world world class standard and tertiary institution both in personnel and infrastructure.
The group notes that it was the efforts of Gov. Bello that subsequently gave room for the realization of full accreditation of the college which has been elusive for over 45 years.
The group lamented that it was unfortunate to have called ongoing projects in the institution as abandoned, described it as ungrateful and high level of insensitivity.
The group frowned at the way and manner that the institution is run as a private enterprise, without following due processes of the Governing Council or management approval.
The group notes that following mismanagement, vital activities of the college have been suffering set back and some put to a halt especially facility repairs, resumption of new students, examination conduct and payment of allowances and hinging it on refusal of state government to release fund from TSA account to the college.
The group called for an audit into an alledged Developmental account of the institution domiciled in UBA with account number 1018809674 off government TSA directive.
The stakeholders called and pleaded with Gov. Bello to institute a panel to probe into the finances of the college,
called on Gov. Bello to disregard comments alledged to have been made regarding the institution during the budget defence, promised to continually and eternally remain grateful for the numerous kind gestures and giant developmental strides in the college.
But in a swift response, the Provost described the Stakeholders allegations as neither here nor there said she has operated a transparent administration since assumption of office.
The Provost said the allegations against her as made by the stakeholders is not true having operated a transparent administration under the Chairman and Governing Council.
She further added that the college and State audit Council have always audited the College, wondered why some persons are after her, said she at no time granted interview or make Public comment to any medium after the budget defence at the State House of Assembly.
The Provost described Gov. Bello as the best thing to have happened to the college since its inception, assurred of the cooperation of the management and staff of the College to the realization of the dreams and aspiration of the governor in his future political and other aspiration.
