Ododo, Toeing the Steps of his Predecessor in Educational Development

Dr Gabriel Ottah
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State is doing it properly. He has maintained, and may possibly surpass, the legacies of quality education for the people of Kogi State which his predecessor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello left behind.
Among other achievements, former Governor Yahaya Bello created two new universities; the Confluence University of Science and Technology at Osara, and Kogi State University at Kabba, to make a total of three state owned universities, the first being Prince Abubakar Audu University, Anyigba, which was created by the late former Governor Abubakar Audu.
Former Governor Bello built a University-looking model secondary school complex in Adankolo, Lokoja. The same structures are in many other schools across the three senatorial districts.
Towards the end of his tenure as Governor, the White Lion approved a free primary and secondary education policy, including paying in full for all external examination registrations, particularly, the O’Level registration fees.
Governor Usman Ododo has kept his word of sustaining the tempo of educational development initiated by his Boss the former Governor. He has announced the payment of the WAEC registration fees for all public school students in the state in their final year. This is highly commendable.
No nation grows without proper education. Education cannot thrive where government does not provide enabling grounds for it to thrive.
Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has shown capacity, determination and discipline in toeing the path of progress in the education sector.
What is left for us is to cooperate with him by doing our own part well. For instance, school principals should not involve on any sharp practices in the course of enrollment of students for the free registration.
On the part of students, what Ododo wants from them is good results obtained from goodk conduct in the examination.
The Governor has approved the payment of the WAEC fees! Will he also write the examination for the students? Students are enjoined to take advantage of this gesture and work hard to put Kogi State among topmost performers in the end.
I personally congratulate the beneficiaries of this gesture and pray for more grace upon our dear Governor.
