NUJ Ekiti Council Sets To Produce New Executive

The Nigerian Union of Journalists, Ekiti Council is set to produce another set of executive who will pilot the affairs of the union in the next three years due to the expiration of the Rotimi Ojomoyela led state executive later in the year.

In a release signed by the Nigerian Union of Journalists Election Committee, NUJECO and made available to the press having Yaqoub Popoola and Amos Ogunrinde as chairman and secretary respectfully.

The union electoral committee highlighted on the time table that the purchase of expression of interest form will begin on Wednesday this week while campaign starts on Thursday.

NUJECO further highlighted that aspirants are expected to submit their forms by Tuesday, November 21 while screening is on Friday, November 24.

The statement further read that all the chapels are expected to submit the names of qualified and financial members to the electoral committee while the aspirants are expected to present their manifestos on Tuesday, December 19 and election is slated for Wednesday, 20th of December.

The outgoing executive under the vibrant and consumate unionist, Rotimi Ojomoyela who is on his second term as the council chairman ends in December. He is expected to hand over to the new executive at the end of the election.

The outgoing secretary of the union, Kayode Babatuyi had last week indicated his interest to succeed his principal and confidant, Ojomoyela.

Bearing unforseen circumstances, the report from the union secretariat, Oke Bareke, old Governor”s office , Ado Ekiti indicates that there might not likely be any challenger to the office of the chairman and some others due to the resolutions from various chapels .
