No School in Lokoja affected by Flood – Kogi Education Commissioner.


 

The Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones says no school is affected by the ravaging flood that has devastated homes and farmlands in the State.

 

The Education Commissioner made the disclosure after going round schools in Lokoja, says except for schools in Ibaja, Bassa and Kogi LGA that may have been submerged, lucky no school in Lokoja metropolis has been affected.

Hon. Jones explained that the number of the schools affected by the flood in the mentioned local government areas in the State are not yet known for now, however expressed the readiness of the Ministry to create any noticed vacuum.

The Commissioner said the Ministry is working round the clock to ensure that students resuming a new session settle down for studies.

The Commissioner who was accompanied on the visit by the Environment Commissioner, Hon. Victor Omofaiye and the Executive Chairman of SUBEB, however disclosed that the State is proactive towards ensuring that temporary camps are made habitable in the event that people affected in the state may need shelter.
