A community Health Volunteer in jere ward of Paikoro Local Government Area of Niger State Mrs Rhoda Janathan has expressed satisfaction with the level of acceptance of response by the beneficiaries of the Plan International and Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria.ANRIN,to reduce the impact of Malnutrition in Niger state.
The programme which is been sponsored by the world bank in conjunction with the Niger state government
has also provided intervention packages for children under five years of age, pregnant women and Lactating mothers.
Mrs Rhoda expressed deligh that the investment of the World health organisation on Children under five years of age which is linked to Malnutrition have yielding positive response.
Accordingly a research by Food and Agriculture Organisation of United Nations indicates that the cost of malnutrition is high, but investing in solutions can improve long term nutritional outcomes.
It also says that Malnutrition is a disease that has a lot of negative impacts on children and women.
Mrs Aishatu Salihu who is the Nutrition Focal person of Paikoro Local government Area said despite the Security challenges in some parts of the local government, nutrition services are available in all the focal areas.
Some beneficiaries of the interventions, Shamsiya Isiyaku, Zuwaira Muhammad and Rakiya Muhammed commended the state government and the World Bank for the gesture.
Recalled that Nutrition interventions are been funded unded the world bank with counterpart funding from the Niger state government and being implemented by Plan international and Accelerating Nutrition Results in Nigeria,in collaboration with federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria- FOMWAN.
