Ahmed Bola Oduleye Charity ( ABOC) Foundation, a Non Governmental Organisation ( NGO) has donated 10,000 notebooks, writing boards and other instructional materials to primary schools in Nasarawa State.
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the foundation, Mr Ahmed Oduleye while performing the flag-off of the distribution
at the Lafia Pilot Primary School on Thursday, said the gesture was aimed at complementing government’s efforts and bridging the gap in the education sector.
Oduleye noted that the to support the younger generation who are future leaders by supporting their education through the provision of adequate learning materials to help them unlock their full potentials.
“Education plays a critical role in shaping the future of our nation and we believe that our future leaders deserve more attention, resource and support to unlock their full potential, hence our intervention.
“As we distribute these exercise books and other instructional materials, we are igniting a spark of hope, and empowering young minds to explore,learn and grow,” he said.
Oduleye noted that the donation was the second edition of such interventions by the foundation in the state.
He urged the beneficiaries to make maximum use of the materials in order to learn and strive for excellence in all their endeavours.
Oduleye appreciated the state government and other stakeholders who supported the initiative.
In her remarks, State Commissioner for Special Duties, Humanitarian affairs and NGOs, Princess Margaret Elayo, represented by the Director, Social Services of the ministry, Mrs Blessing Ebuga lauded ABOC Foundation for its consistency in providing for the needs of the less privileged in the society.
She said that the gesture was one of the core principles of her ministry which is committed to providing for the needy and called on other organisations to emulate them.
On his part, Director, Information, state Ministry of Information Culture and Tourism, Mr DanMusa Mohammed appreciated the NGO for assisting the government in the provision of learning materials for the pupils.
He said it will go a long way in advancing the learning process of benefitting schools and urged them to sustain it.
Earlier , the Programme Officer of the foundation, Kefayat Olarewaju said that the distribution was an annual exercise, which began in 2023.
Olarewaju noted that the 10,000 notebooks and other instructional materials would be distributed Lafia, Doma, Obi, Akwanga, and Kokona Local Government Areas ( LGA), respectively.
The Programme Officer said the organisation plans to give 60,000 note books to 12,000 pupils in the state by 2025.
She stated that in addition to the book distribution programme, the foundation had made interventions in a number of areas, such as providing food and health assistance to the state’s most vulnerable and underprivileged citizens.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries,
Head Master of Lafia Pilot Primary School, Mr Aliyu Kwana, expressed gratitude to the ABOC foundation for the initiative.
Kwana said that the NGO was making progress in aiding underprivileged students whose parents are not able to meet their basic necessities.
He urged other spirited individuals and groups to follow in ABOC’s footsteps and make educational investments for underprivileged children.
