N-HYPPADEC Youth Transformation Programme: 705 Graduates Gets Start Up Kits in Kogi
No fewer than 705 Graduates of N-HYPPADEC Youth Transformation Programme in Kogi, were on Tuesday, provided with Starter-Packs to commence operations in their various skills of specialisation.
Abubakar Sadiq Yelwa, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of N-HYPPADEC, at the flag-off ceremony for the distribution of the Start-up Kits in Lokoja, said that the beneficiaries were drawn from across the ten N-HYPPADEC communities in Kogi, haven successfully completed their skills acquisition training in various vocational trades.
According to him “Graduates Specialisations include; 185, Computer Application, 187, Fashion/Design, 94, Poultry Farming, 85, Catering Services, 61, Fish Farming, 44, Bag/Shoe Making, 18, Hair Dressing, 12, Beads Making, 6, Cosmotology and 74, Graphic Design”
Yelwa said that the empowerment programme is aimed at securing the future of the Nigerian youths in the face of the current economic challenges bedeviling the nation.
“The essence of the N-HYPPADEC Youth Transformation programme is also geared towards the provision of job opportunities that would enable unemployed graduates become self-reliant in the absence of White Collar Jobs”
He appreciated the Kogi state government for its support in providing enabling environment for N-HYPPADEC intervention in ten local government areas of its coverage, namely; Ajaokuta, Adavi, Bassa, Ibaji, Igalamela/Odolu, Idah, Kogi, Lokoja, Ofu and Omala.
He noted that the provision of the Start-up Kits is key to the economic independent of the beneficiaries and advised that they should use them wisely for the purpose intended, stressing that the kits should not be sold in whatever form.
While flagging off the distribution of the Starter-Packs to the beneficiaries, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, affirmed that President Bola Tinubu has done much to the state in the provision of democracy dividends, saying that President Tinubu is keeping to his promised renewed hope agenda for Nigerians.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Joel Salifu Oyibo, also commended N-HYPPADEC for partnering with Kogi state in the empowerment of the youths, saying that the gesture would go a long way in reducing unemployment and boosting socioeconomic activities of the state.
“I therefore, implore beneficiaries of this programme to use the opportunity for their personal growth and development.
“We as government shall work round the clock to ensure that all and sundry benefit from the provision of the state’s democracy dividends” Ododo assured.
Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume in his speech, described the N-HYPPADEC Youth Transformation Programme nation-wide, as a welcome development which he said has accelerated rapid progress in the six states covered by N-HYPPADEC intervention.
Senator Akume represented by a Director in his office, Mr. Simon Tyungu also lauded Kogi state government for its logistics support to enable N-HYPPADEC Youth Transformation Programme to thrive in the state.
Earlier in welcome address, Anyebe Monday, Kogi State Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, reiterated Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s led administration priority to skills acquisition and business development.
He commended N-HYPPADEC for its careful selection of beneficiaries cutting across its ten communities in Kogi.
Starter-Packs distributed include; Sola energy installations, ICT gadgets, Catering equipments and Sewing machines amongst others.
