… Raise funds to empower Youths
The Abuja Branch of the Mopa Welfare Society, organized Mopa Day Celebration /End of the Year Party on Sunday 14th November, 2021 at Hfia Gardens and Event Centre, Abuja.
Mopa Welfare Society is an umbrella body bringing together all Sons and Daughters of Mopa in Mopa Amuro Local Government Area of Kogi State. Mopa town is generally known for her hospitality, education and Self Help.
The Community sets the pace for others to follow in terms of education, political influence and community development.
This year’s event was attended by the National President of Mopa Welfare Society; Elder Dele Luke, The Chairman of the Abuja Branch of Mopa Welfare Society; Elder Ruben Taiye Famodile mni, Others in attendance were Dr Toyin Akinlade (Nee Adeoye), Engr Emmanuel Kayode, Mr Shola Awe, Gen Segun Mathew (Retd,) and Honourable Bolanle Bola-Olorunsaiye(Nee Amupitan), Otunba Muyiwa Ibeun (the Owa of Mopa Land) and a host of other Mopa Indigenes, friends and well wishers of Mopa resident in Abuja.
The Chairman of the occasion was Engr Edward Meseko (well represented by Mr Richard Fiki).
In the various speeches read at the occasion the Community lamented lack of adequate Federal Government presence in their area especially on the Kabba- Ilorin Road which has become terribly bad, and used the opportunity to call on the Federal Government and Kogi State Government to pay closer attention to the road.
The Branch also commended the Governor of Kogi State for recognition/upgrading of some traditional Heads in the State and called on him to do same for Mopa Land.
The focus for this year’s event was to raise funds for Mopa Youths Empowerment Programme for which the Chairman of the occasion, friends and indigenes of Mopa contributed generously to pursue.
The Empowerment Programme is aimed at reducing youth restiveness in the area.
There were donations to that effect. Traditional music and live band was on ground to entertain guests.
