The one year reign on the throne of the Maigari of Lokoja, HRM, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV, has met the yearning and the expectations of the people of Lokoja.
This was the summation of the Committee Members of the One year anniversary of the Maigari of Lokoja who spoke with a cross section of Journalists at a one year anniversary pre event Press Conference.
In his remarks, Alhaji Aliu Jiya Lawal, the Maiyaki of Lokoja, said the reign of the Maigari has greatly helped in uniting the people of Lokoja more than ever before.
Aside unity, the Maiyaki added too that the reign of the Maigari revived the culture and tradition of the people which hitherto were not given prominence.
Still speaking, the Maiyaki said the reign of the Maigari witnessed and attracted the influx of more people, who relocated to Lokoja to reside.
Lokoja as a centre of Tourism, the Maiyaki disclosed, saw more tourists, visiting Lokoja within a year on the throne of the Maigari.
The Maiyaki added also that several unresolved disputes where resolved by the Maigari, praised him for mobilizing the people of Lokoja in the development of the area.
The Maiyaki equally said the Maigari raised the status and respect of the Traditional stool of the Maigari of Lokoja through Improved interactions with other Traditional Rulers across the country, praised him for in just a year on the throne of his forefathers, he was able to build on the legacies of religious harmony amongst the two major religions, a fea he met on the ground on assumption of office.
While pointing out that the Maigari has chosen a low key celebration to mark his one year in office, added that because of the significance and achievements made under his reign which he said would not want to go unnoticed, has set aside visit to some Primary Health Care Centres where he will donate some hospital consumables.
The Maigari of Lokoja, the Maiyaki added is equally expected to also visit the Federal Teaching Hospital and the State Specialists Hospital Lokoja respectively as well as meet with the Disability Community where he is expected to distribute food items to them.
Other activities of the Maigari’s one year anniversary, according to the members of the Committee, is a Jumat and Church service, lauded the laudable achievements of traditional Ruler, pointing out that his reign had brought growth and prosperity to the sons and daughters of Lokoja.
The Press Conference was attended by the Daman of Lokoja, Alhaji Sulaiman Baba and Shantali of Lokoja, Alhaji Bala Haruna.
