The Kogi State Chapter of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, has paid glowing tribute to President Ahmed Bola Tinubu, GCFR for his courage in pursuing to its logical conclusion the granting of Local Government Autonomy as well as the approval to pay N70,000 minimum wage to workers in the country.
Similarly, NULGE in the State has equally expressed it appreciation to Gov. Usman Ahmed Ododo, pointing out that since his assumption of office, he has, “without any iota of doubt created the enabling environment for local Government administration to thrive”.
The Kogi State Chairman of NULGE, Comr. Sanusi Mohammed gave the commendation
during a peaceful walk in Lokoja by NULGE members In the State in appreciation of the Supreme Court Ruling that granted Autonomy to Local Governments in the Country.
“While we look forward to seeing the full implementation of the Local Government Autonomy take it course, we have no doubt that, when implemented it would help tackle the myriad of problems bedeviling our country over the years”.
“We make bold to State that the Challenges of insecurity, unemployment, rural urban migration and improved socio economic development amongst others to mention bedeviling the country would be a thing of the past”.
The NULGE members carried placards with different inscriptions that reads; “Thank you President Tinubu for giving us autonomy”, “Local Government Autonomy will accelerate grassroots development”, “Autonomy, panacea to rural urban migration”, praised President Tinubu for the courage in pursuing the autonomy for local Government.
“This has been the Clarion call and cry of Nigerians over the years for Local Government Autonomy. We are happy that this feat was achieved and made possible under your administration. This is a dream fulfilled”.
“We in NULGE Kogi State, are using this medium to describe President Ahmed Bola Tinubu GCFR as the hero of our democracy and efforts behind the survival of Local Government administration in Nigeria”.
“We wish to use this medium to assure Mr. President, that by this singular and landmark achievement, we remain resolute and committed to supporting his administration now and always”.
The State NULGE Chairman assured of it support for the well-being of the people and workers at the grassroots level of administration, through several interventions that has remained unparalleled.
Kogi NULGE assured that it will continue to now and in the future support the administration of Gov. Ododo for the prompt payment of salaries, praised his administration for having a human face.
Comr. Sanusi used the medium to commend the President General of NULGE, Comr. Ambali and his team for the will power to stay the course in the fight for Local Government Autonomy that was looking endless and difficult, described the achievement as a promised made and kept by the President General.
“Comr. Ambali has consistently assured us that one day, there will be light at the end of the tunnel. We are glad to be part of the history in the survival of Local Government in Nigeria through the granting of Local Government Autonomy by the Supreme Court”.
“We equally want to thank the Special Adviser to the Governor on Labour matters, Comr. Onuh Edoka and other appointees of the State Government who have held on to the believe that one day, the administration at the third tier of government would enjoy autonomy. Accept our sincere appreciation and a commitment that we shall work assiduously for the success of the Gov. Ododo’s administration”.
