Kogi SSG Visits Saadatu Oniviogu, Kogi Woman Mentally Challenged.

 

… Tasks Citizens On Relationship, Love for people challenged rather than abuse


A strong appeal has been made by Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade, Secretary to the Kogi State Government, calling on citizens to make helping vulnerable groups in the society a priority, rather than abusing and discriminating against them.

 

Dr. Folashade made the disclosure when she stopped to according to her visit Saadatu Oniviogu, a woman who hibernates around the Mohammadu Buhari Civic Centre, opposite the office of the SSG.

She called on citizens to make building relationship with people like Saadatu, who are many in the society a responsibility, rather than discrimination and subjecting such people to abuse.

The Secretary to the State Government who doubles as the founder of Folashade Ayoade Initiative for Widows and Orphans (FAIWO), disclosed that her NGO’s thematic area is in caring for widows and elderly, however said on regular basis she always stop over to engage with Saadatu, described her as “my friend”.

Her initial plan upon noticing Saadatu, living in the street of the Civic Centre was to take her to the psychiatric, added that following information about her mental state of health, it became obvious that the psychiatric option was not the solution.

The SSG said she has over the years maintained a close relationship with Saadatu, providing her with support whenever she stops to see her, disclosed that what she needs the most is love and care.

Dr. Folashade described Saadatu as a very jovial and loveable personality, with no violent traits, urged citizens to show her love and care by relating with her.
