One hundred and fourteen (114) prisoners who escaped from the Kabba Federal Minimum correctional centre on Monday has been recaptured as at press time.
The prison was early hour of Monday attacked by yet to be identified gunmen who invaded the centre and set free all the 290 inmates.
The Public Relation Officer for Kogi Correctional Service, Mr. Niyi Sesan confirmed the story to Vanguard on Tuesday.
He said security agencies are doing everything possible to ensured that those who escaped are rearrested within the shortest period of time.
Mr. Sesan said while some of the inmates were rearrested, majority of the inmates that escaped came back to the centre on their own.
Vanguard however gathered that five army personnel were killed in the attack; contrary to the initial report by the security personnel that only one soldier died.
A source said five of the military officer at the routine check point mounted by the army just few metre away from the correctional centres were actually shot dead, while a police officer was killed at the premises of the correctional centre.
