The Kogi State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party says it never conducted the most expensive primary in Nigeria, rather blamed desperate politicians who wanted to win at all cost for monitozing the process.
The PDP in a Statetement signed by Achadu Dickson, Director Research and Documentation, attributed the high cost of the party’s primary to the efforts of some desperate aspirants who made the governorship primary more expensive.
The statement said such aspirants engaged in sharing Dollars and motor bikes to delegates.
The PDP noted that this same desperate Politicians also shared their money to delegates directly by themselves at their own volition and discretion without the party’s involvement lamented that why Politicians would want to turn round and blame the Party.
To also put it on record, the State PDP says it didn’t conduct the primary’s rather said it was the national headquarters that did and ensured the supervision of the primary’s starting from the sales of forms, setting up both screening and electoral committee that conducted the primary.
The party want to state in emphatical terms that in as much as it will not encourage dubious extortion of aspirants by some delegates the party will never give her ticket to anybody that lacked the financial capacity to fund his or her general election.
The party notes that gone were the days when people believe that once they get the PDP tickets they have won the general election, maintaining that as an opposition party, the party needs people with financial and intellectual capacity to win election for the party come 2023 adding that It should be clearly noted that the party has no money to fund an Election on its own.
The PDP cautioned members against utterances that would divide and create disaffection amongst the ranks of the party, pointing out that the State PDP is doing all it can to build a formidable political party in the State ahead the 2023 general election.
