KOGI NUJ TO COLLABORATE WITH FORUM OF VETERAN MEDIA EXECUTIVES


 

 

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State chapter, has expressed its determination to collaborate with the Forum of Veteran Media Executives (FVME), in order to promote the practice of journalism in the state.

The chairman of the union in the state, Alhaji M.J. Adeiza, made the promise during a courtesy visit of representatives of the forum to his office, in Lokoja.

He said that the state NUJ has a lot to achieve from its collaboration with the veteran media executives, who had served at the highest level of the profession.

Alhaji Adeiza further pointed out that retired media professionals needed to take their rightful place in the scheme of things, in the NUJ.

Speaking on the constitutional role for retired journalists in NUJ, Alhaji Adeiza promised to table the matter before the next meeting of the constitution review committee, of the union.

Earlier, the representatives of the Forum of Veteran Media Executives (FVME) in the state, Mr. Bartholomew Ademu and Mr. Abel Ada-Musa said there was need for the NUJ to work closely with the former media professionals to propagate the cause of journalism in the state.

They called for synergy between the two bodies, in order to promote journalism profession and promote the welfare of its members.

In a related development, the forum in its recent meeting expressed its determination to foster unity among its members, in the state.

The forum appointed three persons to coordinate the activities of the forum, namely: Mr. Bartholomew Ademu, Mr. Abel Ada-Musa and Mr. Emmanuel Boro.

It called on journalists who retired from service on Grade Level 14 and above, to register as members; stressing that membership is not automatic.

The forum meets once a month at NUJ Press Centre, Lokoja, Kogi State capital
