KOGI NAPPS DAY, 2024: A call to commitment to embrace Technology and Innovation for the future.

The National President of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Hajia Samira Jibir has called on her members to be committed to embracing technology, fostering innovation and equipping the next generation of learners, to make a remarkable difference.

This was contained in her speech delivered at the Kogi NAPPS Day celebration, 2024 by the Kogi State Chairman of the association, Pastor Jimoh Reuben at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, at the weekend.

Themed “Transformational Education”, she gave an exposition of this form of learning as instrumental to the preparedness of our youth to brace up the challenges and opportunities of the 21st century.

Samira Jibir noted that transformational education fosters critical thinking, creativity and adaptability, designed to equip students with skills and knowledge needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world, adding that with this change, educational principles, philosophies, curriculum, contents, strategies, planning, delivering, measurement and evaluation etc, must change to rhyme with the paradigm shift.

The NAPPS National President called on government to support the association by creating enabling environments for private school owners, through being recognized as partners, asking for a law to checkmate agencies with conflicting demands as well as multiple taxations, so that private schools can have some relief, to focus on transformational education.

In a remark, Pastor Jimoh Reuben, state chairman of the association, called on the state ministry of education, to NAPPS along in the phase of registration for WAEC, JAMB and Basic examinations.

Pastor Jimoh said the activities of Revenue officers, even now that schools resumed only a few weeks ago, where many schools are locked up in the name of default, was not only embarrassing but a channel of ill health on the members.

Responding, the state commissioner for education, Hon. Wemi Jones, ably represented by the Director of Basic education in the ministry, Mr Salami Matthew said the GYB model schools in the state and the University of Science and Technology at Osara were aimed at making education science inclined in the state.

Wemi Jones noted that ever benefits public schools were enjoying will be extended to private schools, noting that adequate data was being awaited from private schools, through validation, urging yet to be validated schools to do so in their interest as the exercise was not to witch-hunt anyone, but for proper planning.

Highlights of the epoch program were award presentations to deserving recipients and display of cultural dances by children of the three senatorial districts of the state.
