KOGI LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTION: Matters arising

KOGI LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTION:
Matters arising and my candid advice to all stakeholders, including local and diaspora observers.

It goes without saying that a new election order is about to birth in Kogi State.

True, true grassroots democracy is returning to the state after decades of sham local government elections or glorified selection exercises that were clothed in a borrowed woman wrapper in the name of caricature grass roots elections.

Let me put it on record that I had decided not to offer myself for grassroots elections in the state again after I witnessed first hand the open rape on democracy by handpick officials of KOSEIC.

These sad events took place during all previous local council selection in the state.

As a former political correspondent with The Graphic Newspaper I recall that I told my Editor at that time that I won’t write any report on the fake election midwifed by the government of Capt.Idris Wada in close alliance with official of the KOSIEC.

That pattern of sham election up till the last: selection last year.

It was against the new judgement of the supreme court on the financial autonomy that propelled my decision to throw my hat into the ring this time around.

For avoidance of doubt, I, otori Ozigi Samuel Ochetengwu is coming to make the difference whether the devil like it or not.

I’m contemplating to pursue my ambition on the platform of APC because I have contributed positively to the good imagine and political fortune of the party through my consistent media supports for the party and then governor and the present governor.

I want to plead with the leadership of the party to please provide a level playing ground for everyone.

As a democrat he should show exemplary leadership.

Let everyone go to the field and test their popularity and acceptance by the good people of the local government area’s.
This is not the time for dirty politics and mago mago and wuruwuru elections.

Nobody should rape this new normal grassroot democracy again.
Enough is enough.

I come in peace.
