Kogi Islamic Clerics Unite in Prayers Against Kidnapping, Banditry, other forms of Insecurity


 

Kogi State Islamic Clerics today united in prayers against insecurity that is challenging the country with Nigerians assurred that with prayers and sincere supplication to Almighty Allah, the issues of kidnapping, banditry, armed robbery and other negative vices currently challenging the country would be a thing of the past.

Justice Mohammed Bello, Registrar, Sharia court of Appeal, Lokoja, and other Islamic Clerics gave the assurances in a lecture and prayers at a special prayer session organized by the Kogi State Chapter of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) against Banditry, Kidnapping and allied crimes in Nigeria held at the JNI Secretariat.

The prayer session is in compliance with directives from His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar lll, the Sultan of Sokoto and President General, JNI.

Justice Mohammed Bello lamented the rate of killings, kidnappings and other negative vices currently challenging the country, said the worst Impact of the current insecurity in the country has led to poverty and downturn in the countrys economy.

Justice Bello called on Nigerian’s to imbibe the lessons and virtues of for patience in their dealings with fellow citizens, said with patience, tolerance, and forgiveness, the citizens would live in love while the country would witness peace.

In a message to the prayer session, the Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, represented by Alh. Sani Salihu, Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Inter Religious Affairs described the timeliness of the Prayers as apt, expressed optimism that the country’s challenge would soon be a thing of the past.

He described the efforts of Gov Yahaya Bello in security as one that has been acknowledged as commendable in the country, described security as a collective responsibilities of all.

He commended Gov. Bello for creating a peaceful atmosphere for religious harmony to exist between the major religious adherents, assurred of the Support of the state government to making the State safe at all times.

Speaking at the occasion, Ambassador Usman Bello, Kogi State Chairman of JNI says he’s optimistic that with the caliber of Islamic clerics gathered to pray for the country, peace and tranquility would return to the country soon.

The State Chairman lamented the level of insecurity bedeviling the country, but commended Gov. Bello for his proactiveness in ensuring security in State.

Highlights of the one day prayer session was prayers by Imam’s from the twenty one Local Government Areas and major mosques in the State, all prayed for an end to insecurity bedeviling the country, prayed for peace in Kogi State.
