KGCSDA Commissions 500 seating capacity Ife-Olukotun Town Hall.


 

As part of the efforts and commitment to meet the social development and infrastructural needs of Communities in Kogi State, Kogi State Government has Commissioned a 500 seating capacity Town Hall in Ife-Olukotun.

 

The befitting Ife-Olukotun Town Hall, built by the Government of Kogi State, Constructed by the State Agency for Community and Social Development Agency CSDA was inaugurated by the Secretary to the Kogi State Government, Dr. Folashade Ayoade Arike.

The over 500 seating capacity Hall was built through the counterpart contribution of Ife-Olukotun Community to the Agency through the commitment of the state government to cater for the needs of the people.

Similarly, the CSDA also commissioned a public toilet along with the town hall, promising that the wellbeing and healthy living of the people in rural communities would remain their priority.

While carrying out the commissioning of the town hall on behalf of the Governor of Kogi State, The Secretary to the state government Dr Mrs Folashade Arike Ayoade stated that the project is a special one because world bank funding for the agency has since closed since June 2020 but owing to the pressing needs of fulfilling the obligation of access of rural communities to infrastructure for human development and to fill up the gap the state government provided funds for twelve communities and two vulnerable groups out of which Ife-Olukotun Town Hall is part of.

She reinstated the commitment of Governor’s Bello administration to bringing development to as many communities as possible, urged the community to make good use of the edifice and take care of it by setting up a maintenance and sustainability Plan committee.

She used the occasion to convey the state government approval for the Agency to provide motorized borehole at the town hall and the adjoining General Hospital for the comfort of the people.

Earlier in his address The General Manager, of the Agency Engineer Mohmon Dauda commended the Ife-Olukotun for their cooperation during the project execution saying that the project was completed in record time without any challenge nor complications.

He added that other request from the community for other projects would be accorded accelerated attention and priority subject to the approval of the Secretary to the state government, Dr Mrs Folashade Ayo Ade Arike under who’s supervision the agency operates

The National President Ife-Olukotun Descendant Union,Dr. Kehinde Mohammed
informed the gathering that the reconstructed hall was built by the community in 1980 with the capacity to accommodate two hundred (200) people.

As a result of our increasing population with the resultant increase in social cultural activities, it was obvious that we deserved a bigger and more befitting hall, which you graciously approved for us through the State CSDA.

I am happy to inform you that this new hall with an attached public toilet and offices now has the capacity to accommodate four hundred and fifty (450) people.

The cost of this edifice is Thirteen Million, One Hundred and Eighty Five Thousand, Six Hundred and Forty One Naira, Ten Kobo (13,185,641.10). The State Government through the State CSDA contributed N8, 996,381.10 (Eight Million, Nine Hundred and Ninety Six Thousand, Three Hundred and Eighty One Naira, Ten Kobo) only while Ife-Olukotun community contributed N4, 189,260 (Four Million, One Hundred and Eighty Nine Thousand, Two Hundred and Sixty Naira) only in cash and kind.
