Baptist LGEA primary school and Baptist Secondary School, both in Surulere area of Ilorin, have finally obeyed the Kwara State directive by allowing Muslim students to resume classes in their Hijab.

The students dressed in their shoulder-length white Hijab on their green and white uniform were full of happiness as they gained access to the school premises on Monday, March 22.

With this development, all the 10 affected public schools have complied to government directive and have resumed classes.

Some students who came with their guardians, dancing in excitement, chanting islamic slogans, including, La ilaha ‘illa Allah (No God except Allah), Wainna jundana lahumu alghaliboon (at the end, Allah’s servants shall be victorious), among others.

The excited students, who have been out of school since February due to the refusal to allow the use of Hijab also recited the national anthem as a sign of loyalty and in obedience to the Nigeria constitution that granted them the right to use the Hijab.

Earlier before they were allowed into the schools, investigations revealed that members of the Baptist Church had gathered to prevent the students from entering, while the concerned Muslims were also there to prevent discrimination.

The vicinity was peaceful due to the presence of security agents who ensured that the students were allowed to gain entrance into the schools and ensured that normalcy returned to the schools and their environs.
