International Women’s Day: Provost COETK Rejoices With Women

The Provost, College of Education, Technical Kabba, Mrs Olusola Victoria Jagboro has felicitated with Kogi Women on the occcassion of the International Women’s Day celebration.

Mrs Jagboro in an interview with newsmen described the occasion as an avenue to celebrate women and their divine call to shape the future positively.

She called for more attention towards girl child education stressing that, women’s contributions towords children upbringing is largely dependent on the quality of life, information and education at their disposal.

The Provost also commended Governor Yahaya Bello for recorgnising the position of women in the society emphasising that more sensitive positions were given to women in his administration.

Mrs Jagboro urged women to continue to identify with role models who have contributed to the growth and development of the nation and beyond.

Her words” my message is that women should always be themselves. They should take their rightful place in the society. They should not allow intimidation to silence them and when they have opportunity of doing anything, they should do it successfully. That’s one of those things that women are known for. I wish all women a happy celebration. The aspect of education should really be looked into. Everybody should be given opportunity to education. For instance, those of us who are doing something today, either in government or public, if we are not given opportunity to education, can we be considered? The northern part of the country needs to consider that. Women are born the same way as men. They should be given opportunity to develop themselves.”

On child’s trafficking and rising cases of migration of women to Europe and other foreign countries in search for greener pastures, Mrs Jagboro urged government to continue to focus more on education to get citizens awared of the danger of prostitution and child’s trafficking.

According to her, educated and informed citizens would make right choices adding that the country is blessed with resources to cater for all citizens.
