The unflinching support of Gov. Yahaya Bello towards ensuring transparency, accountability and prudent management of resources in the State has been described as outstanding in the state’s history.
The Kogi State Auditor – General, Alh Yakubu Okala
made the disclosure while declaring open a one day capacity building training for the staff of the office of the Auditor General Office preparatory to the commencement audit for the year 2020 fiscal year.
According to Alhaji Yakubu Okala, the support and commitment by Gov. Bello to the office of the Auditor General has been largely responsible for the emergence of the state as the most accountable state in Nigeria by the world bank and other International partners.
Alhaji Yakubu Okala described the Capacity Building Training for Audit Staffers in the State as coming at a better time, said it would once again help improve on their capacity, towards sustaining and improving in the feat achieved in the previous years.
He commended the unflinching support given to the office of the Auditor General by Gov. Bello, as the motivation behind the state’s success story as the most accountable State, urged the staff to make good use of the opportunity the training provides.
The Auditor-General commended Gov. Bello for providing the enabling environment for the office of the State Auditor – General, said the support has enabled it to operate at optimum capacity, assured that the feat achieved would be sustained.
Alhaji Okala further charged the auditors to in the course of their assignments provide the needed guidance to their respective public offices during the audit assignment, opined that it would enable them deliver on their mandate of providing goods and services to the good people of the state.
The one day capacity building focuses on effective audit as a panecea for good governance and accountability in the public sector.
