The Kogi State Nigeria Erosion and Watershed Management Project says with the genuine support of Governor Yahaya Bello administration it has expanded its scope of operations to provision of social amenities to communities and economic upliftment to the Vulnerables in the State.
The State project Coordinator, Barrister Ladi Ahmed Jatto made the disclosure while answering questions from Newsmen on the focus of her Agency in Lokoja, the State capital.
She explained that the Agency has transited from solving the problem of Erosion menace into areas of meeting the ever escalating needs of the citizens through the provision of social services
Barrister Ladi Jatto identified six Communities across the three Senatorial districts where the Agency has intervened to solve their difficuities in accessing solar power.
She mentioned communities like Asoji, Aku, Ekri -ade,Bassa, Ogugu and, Okubo as benefited from the provision of solar light and motorized borne holes stating that Okubo community with a percular challenge following Federal Government’s feasibility study that it would not have light in the next ten years due to its geographical nature has been light up.
Barrister Jatto Stated that Cassava processing machines have been provided to the vulnerables persons to enable them process their farm produce adding that the gesture was part of measures adopted by the pragmatic leadership of Governor Yahaya Bello through prompt payment of counterpart funding to reduce poverty and thereby making them self-reliant.
