…Law Student Defeats Two Rivals With 4,747 Votes
History was made at the University of Abuja on Tuesday as Comrade Eyamu Oghenenyerov Peculiar Emerge First Female SUG President Of University Of Abuja.
Popularly known as “Everything Peculiar” emerged as the first Student Union Government President of the institution.
Peculiar, a Law student, scored 4,747 votes to defeat two other contestants in a keenly contested election for the 2025/2026 academic session.
Her closest challenger, Orelope Abdulbaseet Omobolaji scored 4,286 votes, while Abubakar Babba Dahiru Babba garnered 1,727 votes.
The SUG presidential election commenced on Tuesday, 30th June 2026 at 8:00am and ended at 5:00pm the same day. It was conducted peacefully across campus with a large turnout of students.
With the victory, Peculiar becomes the Chief Executive and primary representative of the student body. She is expected to provide visionary leadership, preside over the executive council, and liaise directly with the University management.
The office is also saddled with the responsibility of driving the union’s overall agenda, defending students’ rights, and serving as the official voice of the UniAbuja student community.
In her acceptance message, Peculiar thanked students for the confidence reposed in her and pledged an inclusive administration focused on welfare, academic support, and stronger student-management relations.
The result has been certified by the University of Abuja Students’ Electoral Committee.
