A group, Kogi Joint Youth for Positive Change has conferred an Award of Youth friendly grassroots humanitarian services to Kogi State Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr Abubakar Bashir Gegu.
Conferring the award on Tuesday in Lokoja, the group described the Commissioner as a dogged fighter, a humane leader with passion for grassroots development, hence his regular impact on the lives of his people and those who come his way.
According to the group, Engr Bashir Gegu remains exemplary, a determined leader that is always pragmatic in anything he puts his minds in, stressing that he is a blessing to the people of Kogi State and the New Direction Administration of Governor Yahaya Bello.
They prayed Almighty God to continue to bless him and give the necessary acumen in his political aspirations.
Reacting to the award, the Commissioner who dedicated the gesture to Governor Yahaya Bello, thanked the group for finding him worthy for the recognition, saying it would motivate him to continue to do more for his people and the entire state.
He said if not for the opportunity given him by the Governor, he would not have been able to touch lives as he is doing, and urged the group to pray for and support his dream of seeing the Governor becoming the nation’s president in 2023.
Engr Bashir Gegu who described Governor Bello as a Military Civilian, said he takes after the Kogi State Governor because of his pragmatism when it comes to insecurity by crushing it totally.
He further applauded the Governor for the policies he has introduced in Kogi which has enabled the administration to tackle insecurity because no investment can survive in an atmosphere of insecurity.
He called on the youths in the state and the people of his locality to embrace peace, ensure diligence and consistency in the discharge of their responsibility as that was the only way they could reach their goals in life.
