A front line House of Representative Aspirant, Mr Jeremiah Oladokun has condemned the armed robbery attacks that rocked Egbe and Odo-Ere communities yesterday afternoon, in which three commercial banks were violently destroyed and unspecified amount of monies carted away. He also condoles with the families of the three innocent souls that were felled by the bullets of the rampaging armed robbers.
In a statement he made available through his Director General, Hon Temitope Ajayi,Mr Oladokun lamented the recurrence of the bank robberies in Yagba Land and regretted that it will not only curse untold hardship to the people ahead of the Xmas and New Year celebrations but may be a protracted one this time as it may render the entire area non viable for commercial banking activities if the banks consider their loss over the comparative advantage of doing business in the area and subsequently refuse to reopen their damaged branches as he opined.
“I am deeply concerned about the impending hardship my people will be subjected to this time with the absence of commercial banking activities. Worsening security situations could also lead to an escalation of the present situation to attract more armed robbers into the area because people will be forced to be moving around with more cash. ”
“I also use this medium to call on the heads of Security Agencies across Yagba Federal Constituency to review their operational strategies to increase synergy amongst each other while also building sustainable partnership with the hunters and vigilantes to access the gains of community policing and intelligence gathering to avert future attacks of this nature” He said.
He prayed for the souls of the departed ones and commiserates with the good people of Egbe,Odo-Ere and the entire Yagba Federal Constituency for the unfortunate incident, as he also calls on the State and Federal Government to work together in ensuring that perpetrators of the heinous acts are brought to book soon.
