All Progressives Congress, APC Governorship candidate Sen. Monday Okpebholo has pledged to make Edo a comfortable place for all inhabitants by putting in place all the necessary amenities that would enhance comfort for human habitation, if elected as governor
Okpebholo who made the pledge at the inauguration of the New Media
committee of the APC campaign Council said, his focus will be on how to enable the teeming youth and women population of the state to be productively engaged.
Okpebholo who expressed concern over the poverty level of the state said his first assignment would be the security of the state that would enable people move freely for their daily assignment, adding that once there is free movement to all nooks and crannies of the state by everyone without fear of being attacked by hoodlums the problem of hardship is half solved.
According to him, I have always been concerned with people’s problems and their welfare and if I have the opportunity to be the governor of this state, I will ensure that every person living in Edo state enjoys the good things of life.
The APC governorship candidate also promised to pursue employment creation with vigor by putting Edo money in where it will yield profit to sustain the return on investment.
Addressing the new media committee, Okpebholo said, “I believe in the New media committee in my campaign to win the election governorship election and I appeal to all members of the committee to do their best for my victory and APC’s victory on September 21, so that the party’s manifestos will be implemented for the betterment of Edo people.
His running mate, Rt Hon Dennis Idahosa, called on members of the New Media Committee to put up their best in the execution of their assignment which the house of representative member and deputy governor to be said was very important in the mobilisation of Edo people to win the governorship election.
Inaugurating the new media committee, the director general of APC Campaign Council, Sen. Matthew Urhoghide, the importance of the new media in nowadays elections cannot be over emphasised.
He said since the advent of the New Media outfit, the issue of awareness to election issues by the electorate have been solved because almost everybody is seeing the day today happenings or events within their environment through the new media.
According to him, the campaign Council will encourage the new media committee to achieve the best because we understand how important the new media is to our campaign.
“My only appeal to you members of the new media committee is to be abjective and be factual in your reporting of the events as it happens, there should be no falsehood in your reporting, because we will not want to be dragged into unnecessary libel.
“With me as the director general of the campaign Council, I will ensure that you are giving all the necessary support and encouragement to carry out your assignment because we believe in your ability to promote our candidate, Monday Okpebholo and present him to the electorate as the best of all the candidate to win this election and you will fail us”
Also addressing the new media committee, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, a Chieftain of the APC in Edo state pointed out that the new media outfit has transformed the world into a global village, just as it has played a viral role in mobilising the populace in taking a vital decision that benefited the majority.
While charging members of the committee to be responsible in the discharge of their duty, Ize-Iyamu said as far as the September 21 Edo governorship election is concerned, Monday Okpebholo is the best among all the candidates contesting the election.
Giving a brief life history of Monday Okpebholo, Ize-Iyamu noted that the opposition parties have been mounting campaign of calumny against the APC candidate by alleging that he was not educated, saying, ” he has just addressed you in English language and it is now left for you to draw your conclusion about him and his intelligence”
“The APC gubernatorial candidate, Monday Okpebholo is best candidate to be the next governor of Edo state because he is well educated, is very intelligent, very articulate, very social, very accommodating, very sympathetic, very free in associating with all people, therefore I urge you to go all out and campaign for him to win this election in order to redeem Edo state” Ize-Iyamu declared.
In his welcome address, Chairman of the new media committee, Osigwe Omo-Ikirodah said the committee’s focus should be on creating compelling content that resonates with the electorate, countering misinformation swiftly, and amplifying our party’s achievements and vision.
“We must engage with the youth, address their concerns, and inspire them to join our cause. Our digital footprint should reflect our commitment to transparency, development, and the betterment of Edo State.
“Our theme, “Effective Digital Media Strategy as a Tool for a Secured APC Victory in Edo 2024,” resonates with our shared mission to harness the power of digital platforms to secure a resounding victory in the upcoming elections.
“In today’s fast-paced world, digital media is not just a tool; it is the battlefield where elections are won and lost. Our ability to effectively utilize these platforms will determine our success. We must be innovative, strategic, and relentless in our efforts.
“I want to emphasize that our campaign will be issue-based, focusing on the real concerns and aspirations of the people of Edo State. We are committed to a peaceful, fair, and democratic process. This election is not a do-or-die affair; it is an opportunity to present our vision for a brighter future and let the electorate decide.
“Together, we will craft a narrative that highlights the progress and potential that the APC brings to Edo. We will build a community of supporters who are informed, enthusiastic, and ready to vote for a brighter future under the APC banner” , he declared.
