Ebonyi LGSC Boss, Nwasum Seeks Partnership With DC Coordinators To Enhance Workers Attendance To Duty

The Chairman Local Government Service Commission in Ebonyi State, Chief Romanus Nwasum has solicited for the partnership with Development Center Coordinators towards enhancing workers regular attendance to their official duties in the State.


The chairman made the remark when he led members of the Commission on spot assessment visit to some Development Centers including Ohaukwu, Ngbo Central, Ngbo West, Ngbo East and Ngbo North Development Centers in Ohaukwu Local Government Area, Ebonyi State.

Chief Nwasum observed that the synergy of the Development Center Coordinators with the Commission would not only help in revamping local Government system in the State, but also assisted the Coordinators in carrying out their daily activities, stressing the need for workers to justify the payment they usually received from the State Governor Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, whom he described as workers friendly Governor.

He called on the workers to as matter fact place utmost priority to their official duties by coming to work by 8am and dismiss by 4pm.

He said the Commission won’t further tolerate truancy, adding that any staff who is not on duty in their visit, the commission would be forced to employ new people and replace them.

He commended the Coordinators of Ohaukwu, Ngbo Central, Ngbo East and Ngbo West for taking their duties seriously and urged them to ensure their workers come to work regularly.

At Ngbo North Development Center, where overgrown bushes have taken over the environment and also has no entrance, including poor attendance of workers, the Chairman expressed displeasure over the Development and Charged the Development Center Coordinator to rise to his responsibilities or the commission would be forced to transfer their senior staffs out of the center.

“The essence of creating Development center is to bring Development to the people. I knew this DC had been in existence for over 8 years now but it is unfortunate that there is no entrance to the center and the building is not completed and occupied”

“The Coordinator should live up to the expectation, I see no reason why we can’t drive to the center. The building from my observation is abandoned which means nobody works here”

“If by our next visit, we meet it like this the commission will be force to transfer our senior staffs out from this place because it is not worthy to call a place of work. Something is fundamentally wrong here, we will find out what is wrong and know how to address it because as commission that is responsible for the welfare of its staff, we may compel to take drastic measures that the Coordinator may not like”

“We urged him to start the change immediately to make here habitable and a working place, for now it is a farm house since he was appointed not even clearing the environment. Tell him that we are expressing displeasure over this environment” he said

The member 1 of the Commission Architect Augstine Nwechara said the era of being at home and collect salary among the workers has gone and enjoined them to retrace their steps by attending to work regularly for the realization of the State Government efforts to reviving the system.

He commended the State Governor Chief Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for his prompt payment of workers salary in the State and advocated the need for workers to reciprocate the gesture by being punctual to their official duties in their own best interest.


In their seperate submissions, the member 2 of the Commission Mr Monday Nwigbo, member 5 Barr Kelvin Ituma, director of personnel management Prince Patrick Akputa and Secretary of the Commission Mr Chidozie Igwe all enjoined the workers to shun laxity and remain dedicated to their duties at all so achieve to the peoples charter of needs mantra of the State Governor.

Some of the Coordinators including the Coordinator of Ohaukwu North Development Center Hon. Elebe Goeffery, Coordinator of Ngbo West DC Hon. Samuel Onwe, Coordinator Ngbo East DC Hon. Alike Isaac and their counterpart of Ohaukwu DC Hon. Ejike James Agbo appreciated the Commission for the visit, describing it as very apt. They promised to do all within their powers to ensure workers of the Development Centers come to work regularly.

The Adminstrative officer in Ngbo West DC Mrs Janneth Igwe assured that workers in the area would show more commitment and dedication to their duty.
