Dawn of New Era in Yagba West: As Yemisi Oshaloto Sets to Change the Narrative Through Quality Service to the People

The intention of democracy is to have a government formed by the people and for the benefits of people. Anything lesser than this constant variable, hence becomes a deviation from what democracy originally stands to offer.

In Yagba West State Constituency, there is a yearning by the people for quality representations in all elective positions, and particularly the state constituency seat; as it serve as the direct cord connecting the government and the people. What Yemisi Oshaloto is offering is a reliable channel of governance, well articulated service delivery, and above all accountability. As Oshaloto prepares her gear to pickup the mantle of the servant-woman willing to do the biding of her people and place the needs of the common man far above hers, we as a constituents should team up and birth her aspirations to reality without any forms of hesitations.

While noting the fact that as Nigerians we all have the right to vote and be voted for, the Oshaloto aspiration should be treated as a necessity and not a child’s play. The good people of Yagba West deserves the best and Oshaloto is bankable.

The women in governance campaign have over the years garnered grounds in states across Nigeria, Anambra State was not left out. In fact, Anambra is clearly the state with the most progressive women in this regard in the South East, just as Kogi State is setting the pace in the North Central and the country at large.

Beverly Ikpeazu-Nkemdiche is the only female Honourable Member of the 7th Anambra State House Of Assembly. She stands tall amongst the crowd of 20 men as a three-time member of Anambra State house of Assembly representing the Onitsha South II constituency. Another noted Anambra Woman is Hon. Lynda Ikpeazu, a 3rd term member of the House of Representatives, Representing Onitsha North and South Federal Constituency.
Let us not in a hurry forget Senator Stella Oduah Ogiemwonyi, a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria from Anambra North Senatorial District and a former Minister of Aviation.

The above are only few from tens of women Anambra as a state has given the opportunity to serve in public offices. Governor Yahaya Bello over the years demonstrated a new kind of governance not seen before in the entire nineteen Northern States due to the leadership embargo on women taking up leadership roles in the country. This jinx was broken in 2016 with the appointment of Dr. Folashade Arike Ayoade as the first female Secretary to the State Government, followed by other juicy positions all occupied by women.

Hence in 2023, it is time to add more flesh to Governor Yahaya Bello’s women inclusiveness mantra by electing women into key elective positions, go beyond appointments and have Kogi stand out as an ambassador for gender sensitivity and women involvement/ inclusiveness in active governance.

Congratulations to the good people of Yagba West State Constituency, as fate is willing to have them set this narrative for others to follow. Together we shall birth the Yemisi Oshaloto aspirations and swear her in as Honorable Member to by grace represent Yagba West State Constituency.

Idèrà De, 2023. Support and pray along with Yemisi Oshaloto.

Signed:
Yagba West Youth
Consultative Forum.
