Council Election: I have suspended my participation in the whole process – Otori Ozigi
… Electoral lacuna in Supreme court judgement on local government autonomy:
It is imperative for the local government election to be handled by INEC under the new order.
Nobody can convince me that the State electoral body otherwise known as KOSIEC is apolitical by the stretch of our imagination to conduct a free , fair and credible elections in the 774 Local government areas.
That electoral body have not learnt any lessons from their past bad and ugly behaviour to be entrusted with an important election like this forthcoming grassroots election in the state.
I have lost my enthusiasm when I discovered that the same set of people notorious for conducting sham elections in the past have been saddled with the responsibility to conduct this forthcoming election.
There is no guarantee that the body as presently constituted is capable and professional to do justice to the task ahead without bias or favour to the government of the day..
Until a new regional INEC is in charge, I have decided to suspend my participation in the whole process.
I have no confidence in the present electoral body as constituted.
Our time will come when there is sanity and democratic process in the system.
