A member of the National Youth Service Corp member, Muhammad Anas has beautify the Ohimegye of Igu-Koton Karfe Palace with 3D Wall Letters, a signpost wall with logo inscription to the Palace as part of his Community Development Service project.
Anas, who is serving in the Koton Karfe local government area of Kogi state, said the project was aimed at uplifting the status of His Royal Majesty, Alh. Abdulrazak Gambo Isah, the Ohimegye of Igu-Koton Karfe Palace, adding that it was meant to beautify the palace and a pathfinder to those who are ignorance of the traditional greeting in eulogizing the Ohimegye as ‘Agabaidu’
Speaking during the unveiling of the 3D Wall Letters signpost in Koto on Friday, Anas added that the project would serve as a legacy in the Palace and it will encourage other Corps members to do more in service to the country.
“When I was relocated to Koto, I had a clue of one Corp member did in the Central Mosque, so I brainstorm on the project I would carried out and I noticed that there was no sign to direct visitors or to show this place as Palace. After some weeks, I conceived the idea of giving the Palace a befitting 3D Wall Letters signpost and logo signage,” he said.
“With this project, I pray that Ohimegye of Igu-Koton Karfe Palace, shall continue to succeed in his quest to lift the kingdom”
He expressed his gratitude to the Local Government Inspector Mr. Collins for providing an enabling environment to ensure that the projects were completed.
The Kogi State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps Mr George Mfongang who was ably represented by the Lokoja Zonal Inspector Mr Etsu Muazu Idris commended Anas, adding that his action is worthy of emulation by other Corps members.
He said, “This is your first Community Development Service project which is a cardinal programme of the NYSC.
“I want to thank you sincerely because you have come here and identified a need and have done your best to meet that need.”
Muazu described Anas as a dedicated and hardworking Corps member, adding that the Palace would always remember his good deed.
In an interview with Local Government Inspector, “When Anas told us what he wants to do, we encouraged him. A
Kingdom like this deserves to be known, a Palace like this deserves to be exposed, especially when we have our officials here trooping and out. Out of the Seven Presidential Awards of the scheme, Koton-Karfe local area of kogi state won 7.
“As long as the signpost wall is here, we will remember Anas contributions. I want to thank you and encourage you for impacting on this community.
In his remark, His Royal Majesty, Alh. Abdulrazak Gambo Isah, the Ohimegye of Igu-Koton Karfe commended the Corps member for his sacrifice and foresight as a son of the soil. He said the Signpost wall will remain a historical monument.
