ICC CALLS ON KOGI APC TO RALLY BEHIND GOV. AHMED USMAN ODODO AHEAD OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS
As Kogi State approaches its upcoming Local Government elections, Alhaji Adams Onota, Chairman of the Independent Campaign Council (ICC) and a key APC figure, has called on all party stakeholders and members to unite behind Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s leadership.
In a statement delivered on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, Alhaji Onota lauded Governor Ododo for his progressive policies, particularly the recent approval of a new minimum wage of ₦72,500—exceeding the federal benchmark of ₦70,000. This decision, he noted, underscores the Governor’s unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of Kogi’s citizens and enhancing their quality of life.
Governor Ododo’s administration has consistently focused on delivering the dividends of democracy through a variety of impactful measures. Key initiatives include addressing economic challenges by making strategic appointments, driving revenue generation, reducing unemployment, and combating social vices across the state.
Alhaji Onota also highlighted the Governor’s prioritization of security, pointing to the administration’s proactive strategies in ensuring the safety of Kogi residents. Additionally, infrastructure development has taken center stage, with notable improvements in road construction across Lokoja and the state’s three senatorial districts.
In his appeal, Alhaji Onota urged all APC members to throw their full support behind the party’s candidates in each of the 21 Local Government Areas. He emphasized that electing APC chairmen is crucial for ensuring effective grassroots engagement, which is essential for sustaining the state’s development trajectory.
By securing a resounding victory in the Local Government elections, Kogi State can continue to advance Governor Ododo’s vision of progress, stability, and prosperity.
