The Honourable Commissioner of Finance, Budget and Economic planing, Kogi State, who doubles as the Forum chairman of all commissioners in the state, Mukadam Asiwaju Idris Asiru, FCA in the spirit of the yuletide season felicitate with Kogites especially the Christian faithfuls, saying it’s a very special festive period in the Christian calendar that exemplified love, sacrifice and compassion.
Asiwaju notes with great clarity that Christmas is celebrated to remember the birth of Jesus christ, who Christians believes is the son of God. The name “Christmas” comes from the mass of christ(or jesus) . A mass service ( which is sometimes called communion or eucharist) is where Christian remember that Jesus died for us and then came back to life.
The Aare Afiwagboye of Isanlu land expressed the fact that Christmas is a time to be joyous and celebrate the precious gift of God to the world and humanity. He said ,the yuletide season present us once more an opportunity to show love, espouse heart of sacrifice and forgive each other. It’s time to make these virtues more practical and evident in our daily lives.
Mukadam called on all Yagba people, the okun race and kogites in general to rededicate themselves to the service of humanity in line with the teachings of Jesus christ which emphasis on tolerance, patience, kindness, care for the needy and love for one another, among other virtues.
He enjoined kogites to sustain their unwavering support for Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello in his quest to bring more dividends of democracy. GYB in the last few years in the saddle has been able to foster unity and build bridges of love across the ethnic groups in the state,so also, there are records of his giant strides in sectors like Security, Health, Education, infrastructural development, Agriculture, Civil service reform and different shades of empowerment to youths and women. With affirmation, he opined that the new direction administration shall continually do more to uplift the welfare of the people.
I remain convinced that God Almighty is still with us as a state even amidst sumountable challenges, saying, we shall surely overcome with unity of purpose, dedication, commitment and perseverance.
