CARES Foundation visits Orphanages in Kogi, Donates Items, Provide Water Facilities.


 

 

 

A Non governmental Oganization, Community Assistance and Relief Foundation, (CARES), has said its major focus is to transform rural communities Into cities where facilities like quality healthcare delivery, portable water supply and good schools exist.

 

 

The Executive Director of the foundation, Mrs Bolanle Bola – Olorunsaiye stated this while making donations to Ministry of Mercy Orphanage Crusher lokoja, Stagi cornerstone orphanage, Adankolo lokoja, Ekundayo homes Makutu Isanlu Yagba East LGA, Omolayo homes Odole Mopamuro LGA, Okpanachi (God’s will) orphanage Ayangba Dekina LGA.

said CARES Foundation has sinced 2018 strived to improve the life of women and children in communities, described the world as one that would be a better place if be make lives meaningful for the vulnerable.

maintained that lifting the poor out of poverty would reduce insecurity in communities, thereby creating a peaceful environment for businesses to thrive, said CARES Foundation is poised to to lives meaningful for the less privileged.

The Executive Director listed the aims and objectives of the organization to include; providing financial, material and moral support to the less privileged persons in the communities.

In addition to the group’s objectives she disclosed is to equally assist the indigent and vulnerable members of the communities, through sustainable economic, social and financial plans.

Mrs Olorunsaiye said part of the focus of the organization is to also create awareness and sensitize rural dwellers on opportunities that hitherto ramains a mirage to them

According to her, the foundation also serves as a bridge between communities, Government, agencies, professional bodies and international organizations to midwives opportunities from home and abroad.

The Kogi State Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Hajia Fatima Buba Kabiru, who was the Special Guest during the visit to the homes, lauded the management team of CARES foundation for touching the lives of the less privileged and vulnerable people in the communities.

She called on well to do members of the society to help in bridging the gap between Government and the people, saying that Government alone cannot do it all.

She however noted that the administration of Alhaji Yahaya Bello has been doing it’s best to better the lives of the vulnerable people through empowerment and appointments.

Also speaking, Dr Ikemefuna Nnamdi Onyeyili, the Kogi State Coordinator of Aids Healthcare Foundation, expressed satisfaction with the visit, said Cares Foundation has justified its objectives, lauded the effort to put smiles on the faces of the vulnerable in the society, assured of AHF partnership at all times.

In his remarks, the Director General Public Defender & Citizens’ Right Commission, Barr. Abdullahi Zakari described the Initiatives by CARES Foundation as commendable particularly in a time when people are only concern about themselves. He urged the Foundation to sustain the feats it has achieved in view of the impact it recorded in the State.

In a health talk and sensitization to the various homes visited, A Health Educator from the Kogi State Ministry of Health, Mr Acheku Yusuf, charged the management and care givers of the homes to make hygiene and Sanitation of their homes a top priority.

Mr. Acheku who used several instructional materials for his presentation, tasked on the need to observe all Covid19 protocols, lauded the effort to CARES Foundation in ensuring that homes are provided with portable water and nutritious food items like milk and other essentials needed for the growth of the children in the orphanages.

The weeklong visit by CARES Foundation to the various homes had several State Government officials, Local Government Council Chairmen, Representatives of the Traditional Institutions and all the Heads of Department of Health and Education Department at the various Local Government Areas visited.

The Management teams of the various orphanages in their separate remarks thanked CARES Foundation for the kind gestures, said the support to their homes is coming at a better time.

While promising to make judicious use of the items donated to them, they management of the homes solicited for more support to enable them adequately care for the children.

Items donated to the orphanages include Food items, beverages such as Milk, washing hands buckets,
Face masks, hand Sanitizers and a Water reservoirs for the MOM orphanage.

Speaking at the end of the visit, the Executive Director of CARES Foundation, said the visit would be regular in view of the Impact it is making and the need to replenish the stocks of the homes.
