Bello set to stop former Govs, others from enjoying special grants

An executive bill with intent to repeal Kogi State former Governors’ and others special grants law has passed the first reading in the State Assembly.
The bill which was forwarded by Governor Yahaya Bello through a letter to Kogi State House of Assembly intends to put an end to the special grants being enjoyed by former governors of the state ,their deputies, Speakers and others due to the paucity of funds .
Presided over by the Speaker, Rt Hon Matthew Kolawole, a bill on Kogi State Legislative funds management also scaled through its first reading during plenary sitting at chambers of the state assembly.
Also, three bills seeking to ammend Kogi State Economics Council ,Kogi State Local Government Audit and Kogi State Public Account 2021 scaled through their second readings
The Majority Leader, Hon Bello Hassan Abdullahi who led the debates on the three bills explained the merits of the bills to the state when passed into laws.
Also a bill seeking to make provision for the establishment and management of Kogi State Investment Promotion Agency and other matters therewith scaled through its second reading having been given a short title by the Clerk of the House, Alh Ibrahim Amoka.
The Majority Leader once again led the debate on the propriety of passing the bill into law.
Ruling , Rt Hon Matthew Kolawole said the bill when passed into law would provide a data base for Kogi State properties and investments as well as build capacity for investors in the state.
He directed that the bill be committed to the joint committees on Justice and Protocol as well as Commerce and Industry .
