Bassa-Nge day celebration harps on unity as Etsu confers Chieftiancy titles

The people of Bassa-Nge at home and in diaspora gathered in Gboloko on Friday to celebrate this year’s Bassa-Nge day.
Chairman of the occasion, Engr. Nda Mohammed thanked Bassa-Nge sons and daughters for gracing this year’s Bassa-Nge day celebration. He maintained that the people of Bassa-Nge are known for their rich cultural heritage and respect for constituted authority and urged the people to sustain the tempo.
Engr. Mohammed also called on Bassa-Nge people to maintain unity to ensure the rapid development of their people. He assured that it is only the unity of purpose that can engender meaningful development for the people.
He applauded the Etsu Bassa-Nge for his hard work in ensuring continued peace in his domain. He equally thanked Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for the appointment of the sons and daughters of Bassa-Nge Kingdom in his cabinet.
During the occasion the Etsu Bassa-Nge, His Royal Highness, Brig Gen. Abu Ali Mopa III (rtd) conferred Chieftiancy titles on some worthy Bassa-Nge sons. Among them was the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Ododo on Media, Comrade Jacob Edi who was conferred with the Chieftiancy title of kakaki Bassa-Nge kingdom with the greetings – Dagba.
Meanwhile Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo has applauded the people of Bassa-Nge kingdom for organizing their annual cultural celebration day. He said the occasion typifies the unity which exists among the people.
Represented by his Special Adviser on Multilateral donor funded projects, Dr Abdullahi Ozomata, the governor thanked Bassa-Nge people for voting APC in the last governorship election in the state. He assured the people of Bassa-Nge kingdom that the governor will carry out massive development in the area.
In his remarks, the commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Hon Muktar Shaibu called for synergy among the people of Bassa-Nge kingdom. He maintained that the occasion should always provide an opportunity for the indigenes to contribute their quota to the development of the community.
Speaking to Journalists on the sidelines at the occasion, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s Senior Special Assistant on Information and communication strategy, Hon Chris Ben-Kato said he was elated to be a full participant at the occasion. He said the coming home of Bassa-Nge people at the national level and in diaspora is a welcome development.
Hon. Ben-Kato thanked God for the peaceful conduct of the Bassa-Nge day celebration. He assured that the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo who is the Chief Servant of Kogi State is prepared to better the lots of Bassa-Nge people.
Hon Ben-Kato called on Bassa-Nge people to keep giving their maximum support to the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo adding that better things are on the way for Bassa-Nge kingdom.
On his part the newly tubarned Kakaki Bassa-Nge kingdom who doubles as Governor Ododo’s Senior Special Assistant on Media, Chief Jacob Edi thanked the Etsu Bassa-Nge kingdom, His Royal Highness, Brig Gen. Abu Ali Mopa III (rtd) for honouring him with the Chieftiancy title. He assured the people of Bassa-Nge kingdom that he would continue to contribute his quota to the development of community.
Prominent Bassa-Nge sons and daughters who graced the occasion include Prince Yakubu Gowon Eri, Vice Chairman of Bassa Local Government Area, Hon Aisha Idris Aliyu Beauty who represented the Bassa Council Chairman, Hon Theophilus Adama
