ASUU STRIKE: CRY BELOVED COUNTRY

BY DONATUS OKPE

How long do we have this motion without movement? There has been ASUU Strike because the federal government failed to honour the agreement it signed. Whatever was induced by somebody ‘s insensitivity, the inducer must bears the brunt of responsibility.

The Federal Government is the inducer of this condition that has caused the death of some students who were killed by idleness. Some of them went into depression for being out of classrooms and they had since developed one ailment or the other. Some of them found solace in Yahoo businesses that now wear a new toga of human organ harvesting for money rituals. Idle female undergraduates are now victims of harvesters of human organs on daily basis. Many of them unholy solace in prostitution. The calamitous effects of the strike are too humongous and indeed, incalculable. Habaaa.Malam, Minister Adamu Adamu,I know you in my journalism career from NNN to Citizen Magazine to Daily Trust as a social crusader. I never imagined you would be as insensitive as you were in the course of the media briefing organised by ASO Rock Media Team. You , Adamu, Ngige and the Presidency induced the trauma of seemingly unmitigated ASUU Strike with attendant consequences. You cannot claim you won’t pay the lecturers the arrears of their salaries. Nobody healed a festering wound with nail-and-hammer approach. From last encounter with NANS that culminated in haulty and hegemonic grandstanding, Adamu Adamu has not found bandage for this festering sore called ASUU Strike . Leadership is about responsibility. Let us not wait until we begin to hire motor park thugs to manage our classrooms . You can’t be sending your children abroad and keep us in this nightmare of motions in educational sector without movement. You claimed the President didn’t give you two-week order to cure the national trauma and yet you did not refute that claim until the media briefing woke you from your slumber. Which statistics of infrastructural development are you dishing out when your citadels of learning are closed down for over six months? Imagine the impression of international community have about our country ‘s chequered educational development. The Ahmadu Bello University you attended was once classified as one of the best in in the world in the ’70s and’80s. Can you still beat your chest and say it still lay claim to that grandeur?
